HOT AUGUST NIGHT!
Fan Reviews

What fans are saying about our show.

Now that was a concert.  Hi dean, its mark in Irvine,  great job singing

Had a nice talk with lori, wish she could meet Rhonda sometime.  We have a lot in common

I have 3 boys and 1 girl, you just sing better than I do.  My dad was friends with the Doolittle family

Who owned the greek theater, I would love to see you in places that hold 3000/5000 people.

Your good enough, you just need exposure.  There are enough neil diamond fans still alive,

And you’re the best, I’ll see what I can do,  there are companys that pay $30,000-$50,000 to play @

Their conventions, my friends company paid mike love and the beach boys $200,000 for 2 hr.

I believe in you, with  1 break, you can make it big time,  you have paid your dues, and you deserve the best.

Talk to you soon

In every show I have been to I have sat there, cringing at one strong/weak
point of the emulator or another. Some have great costumes, good bands and
even, sometimes look a little like the star they are imitating, but they
did not capture the vocal spirit and caricature of the star they portray.
You, sir, are a phenomenal entertainer with a 98% perfection rate. Your stage
presents and ability to capture Neil's moves are 100% without a doubt!
As I sat their in awe, I truly had to study hard to find weaknesses in your
vocal abilities and I did have one glaring thing that I would love to speak
with you about. There were 3 things in all that I think could take you from
a 98% or stated other wise the best Neil Diamond imitator to a 100%. Just want to make clear...NONE in MY book has ever come close to the 98%.
You ARE an EXCELLENT look alike. THAT gets you 100%.

Hi Dean,

Carey Clawson

My wife and I attended your show last night with a couple of friends whom are big Neil Diamond fans and I told them that they just had to come out with us and watch you and Hot August Night perform and I must say they loved it. Thank you very much once again and I know you have heard it but must be repeated what a wonderful job you did. And the original Hot August Night songs were Amazing. I would like to know how to purchase your c.d. unfortunately I only had my credit cards with me and was not able to purchase one. I will keep checking your website for future shows. This is the second year in a row we have watched you on Valentines Day and cant wait to watch Hot August Night perform again.

...Dean, when you dedicated that song to me it was a dream come true. You will never know how much your shows and your personal kindness has helped me through this crazy time. Just spending an evening of pure enjoyment at your concerts throughout the summer was the best medicine. I could forget about everything else for an entire evening and just float on the adrenalin and fun. I am always energized by your music and performance -- I usually take a couple of days to"come down" from the excitement. Whenever I was having a "down" day my husband would say, "don't forget, we're going to see Dean Colley on _____ ." He knows that will always bring a smile to my face. When you are on the stage you never know what you might be doing for someone in your audience that may go way beyond an evenings entertainment -- I'm just a very lucky one who had the opportunity to let you know what you did for me...

  • Dear Dean, I just saw you perform at the Summer Park Concert, last Sunday, in Glendora. I am a BIG fan of Neil Diamond and have seen him perform live, and I must say that I was very impressed with your show. Nicely done and quite good, to say the least. I enjoyed it immensley and so did everyone in the park--they were all commenting positively. We certainly hope to see you again next year ! Rarely, do I hear many comments as I am leaving the concerts at the park, but you made a HUGH impression. For a fan, which you obviously are, it must make you feel wonderful to have positive feedback. You have most definitely spent a great deal of time studying Neil and his actions ; the true sign of a devoted fan. All the best to you and thank you so much for another "live" appearance of Neil Diamond. Have you ever heard anything from him about your performance? Well, enough from me. Just thanks for the thrill one more time.

    All my best,

Vicky from Glendora Vicky Harvey [vicky@webuniverse.net]

  • Mr. Colley; Please return to the Coach House soon!!! Your Neil Diamond tribute is extraordinary, and I have been telling everybody about it. My husband and I went together - we have always loved Neil, and although we have never had the pleasure of seeing him live, we honestly felt as though you brought the experience to us - God bless you for using your amazing talent and dedication to authenticity in bringing all of us one of the most enjoyable shows ever. I meant it...COME BACK SOON!

  • Hi Dean,

I have seen and enjoyed both of your performances in Fullerton in 2004 and am in awe of how accurate your voice and performance is! You give it your all, right to the last song, a real tribute not only to Neil Diamond, but to your own professionalism! Your band does a great job also! I like your sense of humor and candor (in the interview on your website) and the nice note that Neil Diamond sent you shows his class, which I’m sure makes you even more proud to represent his music!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!WHAT A GREAT SHOW!!!!!A GROUP OF US WENT TO THE COACH HOUSE IN SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LAST NIGHT AND WITNESSED A MUSICAL PHENOMENON. DEAN COLLEY DID A TRIBUTE TO NEIL DIAMOND WHICH WAS UNBELIEVABLY OUTSTANDING. NOT ONLY DOES HE LOOK LIKE NEIL, BUT HE HAS HIS EXACT VOICE AND MANNERISMS. THIS IS A TRUE TRIBUTE TO NEIL DONE IN AN EXCEPTIONALLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. THE SHOW IS CALLED "HOT AUGUST NIGHT". THE SHOW LASTED ABOUT 1 AND THREE QUARTERS HOURS AND THE CROWD WAS SCREAMING FOR MORE. HIS MAIN JOY APPEARS TO BE PLEASING HIS AUDIENCE IN A WARM AND FRIENDLY MANNER. HE IS A CONSUMATE PERFORMER.WE HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER NEIL TRIBUTES BUT DEAN BLOWS THEM ALL AWAY WITH HIS STYLE,ENERGY AND SHEER MUSICAL ABILITY. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE WHO ENJOYS AND LOVES NEIL DIAMOND'S MUSIC, SHOULD MAKE A POINT TO SEE ONE OF HIS CONCERTS. YOU WILL BE IN FOR A TREMENDOUS MUSICAL EXPERIENCE. YOU CAN CHECK HIS WEBSITE AT WWW.HOTAUGUST.COM. LEE

  • Last night my husband and I went to see a wonderful show in San Juan Capistrano, CA! It's called Hot August Night and the singer looks, acts, dresses and sounds exactly like Neil Diamond! Someone posted about "Forever in Blue Jeans" which is one of my faves. He did a great job on that as well as "I Am (I said)" and many more. This guy and his musicials have this show down pat! He plays to the audience, has audience participation, does it all. Neil has a distinct voice so "I Am..I said" was the real test for me. If I looked away, I would swear it was Neil. As a fan of Neil's going back to the 60's I highly recommend this show if he comes to your area. For more details, the website is: http://www.hotaugust.com/ I will watch the site and hope he comes to my area again.

  • Thank you for a great concert last night in Cypress. My Mom and I enjoyed it. She didn't want to leave!

    Thanks again!

    Bobbi

  • Was at your show Saturday in Cypress, you're every bit as good as Neil. It was said you perform in Las Vegas, where abouts and when. I'm up there often.

  • Hello I heard your concert in the park in Cypress last night and I really enjoyed it.

  • My wife and I moved to Diamond Bar with our two children in 1976. About 12 years ago the City of Diamond Bar started the "Concert" series. My wife and I have been to almost every one over that period of time. We spent our 25th wedding anniversary "in the park" ten years ago! Aug. 5th it will be 35 years. My daughter and her husband were the ones to notice your concert in Chino (they live in Chino Hills) last Thursday, July 18th. This was the first concert we have attended in another city. My daughter joined us and I must say its one of the BEST concerts that we have ever attended. I have been a Neil Diamond fan since the mid 1970's. The music was great! On behalf of my wife, daughter, and I - Thank you for a memorable evening.

  • I would be interested in a future schedule of appearances. I don't know if its something you provide by e-mail or if you need an address. Mr. & Mrs. Curtis B. Postel 531 N. Deep Hill Road Diamond Bar, CA 91765 And may I suggest that you contact the City Of Diamond Bar about next years "Concert" series! Sycamore Canyon Park is HUGE and I know that your concert would get rave reviews!

  • Hello, I was wondering if there were event dates scheduled through the end of this year in Southern California other than those noted on your web site. I would enjoy taking my friends to see your show. It's been a few years since I'd seen it last and recall having a wonderful time.

    Thanks for your time,

    Rosa Saenz

  • Could you please send me a concert schedule for southern CA. I would love to take my 12 year old son who is a Neil Diamond fan. I hear your the next best thing. I live in La Palma however had to miss your Cypress concert due to previous plans. Oh well, hope it went well and I look forward to seeing your show in the future.

  • Hi Dean, Enjoyed your show at Casa Loma Park in Yorba Linda a few weeks ago. WOW! Your drummer was a sweetheart and gave those broken drum sticks to my son Parker. I got your schedule up until this Friday, Aug. 9th. I want my Mom to see you (she was out-of-town), but not sure if we'll be able to make it to Crown Valley Park on Fri. Are there more dates upcoming you could E-mail my way? If I here from you, GREAT! If not, I'll make a point of saying Hi on Friday if we're able to make it. It been on the calendar, it's just been a very busy week. Thanks! Bless you! Have a great week.p> Lori Widly

  • We sure enjoyed your performance. It was just like seeing Neil thirty years ago! You really have his stage idiosyncrasies down pat. It's a joy to watch a performance by a group who obviously appreciates Neil's material and character as much as we do. Please send me an on-going schedule of where you will be performing. We won't be able to make it to the Lake Havasu performance.

    Thank You Very Much,

    Richard and Sue Oxford.

  • Wow! I am still on fire from tonight's show, what a wonderful night you gave everyone in attendance. Thanks so very much to you and your fabulous band. You guys rock! You had babies all the way up to seniors dancing and grooving to the music! To tell you the truth, I almost didn't go because I was feeling a little blue and therefore anti-social. Boy, am I glad I went. Now I can't even remember why I was feeling down in the first place, you lifted my spirits to the sky, "Brother"! My children, ages 2 and 7, had a fabulous time as well. I have never seen my little one dance so much or so blissfully. I saw Neil about 15 or so years ago, and I have to tell you, though on a smaller scale, the energy level and talent was shockingly close to that night many years ago. Thanks to Bobby for telling me about the website, and for playing that funky beat, great job! I can't wait to see you all again. You have at least three more fans in the world tonight. Thanks for the great memories, we'll definately see you again soon.

    Sincerely,

    Stacy Tuttle

  • We saw you for the second time and will see you again in Los Alamitos on the 24th. You are VERY good at this! Keep it up! Jan
